What had once been a stunning playground has since been removed.
The playgorund was unceremoniously removed after it was determined to be structurally difficient. A temporary rope climbing structre was added and the playground area remains a frenced in space -- but is one of the saddest experiences we have come across, much to the dissapointment of our 4-year-old who was looking forward to the pirate playground.
Hopefully a new playground is installed soon, but it seems like that may be a ways away given the sign from the city, whcih is currently undergoing a planning process.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This surprisingly large playground in downtown Naples, Florida offers shade and a safe place to play.
We were surprised to find this playground in downtown Naples since my in-laws never mentioned it. We came across it one evening after parking on the far side of the park, and realized it was the perfect pre-dinner activity.
This place is a big wooden structure with lots of different elements. I'm always a sucker for a playground with themed elements, and this one had a castle theme and a boat theme all linked by parapets and bridges.
The side of the playground designed for smaller children is less exciting, although our toddler did enjoy sitting in the wooden truck.

This playground also has lots of shade, both from large trees and from artificial shade stands.
This playground definitely can get crowded, and it's hard to keep track of your kid since the structure is large and not easy to see through. However, there is a fence around the whole thing with just one access point making it easy to keep track of who is coming and going.
