A small playground adjacent to the pool, it's more of an accessory to the park than a destination.
The equipment here seems especially low to the ground. The larger piece of equipment intended for 5-12 was unusually low.
The proximity to the pool probably makes this playground a bit of a sideshow to the pool, which might explain why nobody was there in November, except for some guy trying to train his dog. The lack of shade though makes it seem like it would be unbearable any day its warm enough to use the pool.
Our toddler spent a few minutes up and down and making my brother slide down the slide, but overall he quickly lost interest.
This was a stopover on the way to the staircase that leads to the High Bridge pedestrian walkway. The stairs here are steep and long, and our toddler still needed a bit of a carry on the final stretch. We tried visiting this a while back before our toddler was steady on stairs and decided not to head down because it was too far to carry him. On this trip we returned to the top of the hill via the bike path which connects with the street level a little further south on 165th Street.
Part of the Highbridge Park pool complex, the parak was original built in 1936 as part of the WPA.
