A basic playground, the Field of Dreams is more utility than fun serving the Eastham athletic fields.
Spring break is upon us, so like many people trapped inside small apartments with toddlers, we fled the city. It's not quite beach weather, but we headed to Cape Cod where shoulder season has arrived.
One of the big disappointments with Field of Dreams is the lack of swings. Swings were really the first thing our little guy learned to do, and the fact that there were none here when he was smaller was a big disappointment. Now that he's three, the playground is still kind of boring.
The best reason to stop here is temporarily entertaining younger children while other family members play sports in the nearby fields or pickle ball courts. Nearby Wiley Park is far more functional as a playground, and a lot more entertaining.
The boat-shaped structure offered some good pretending, but after about thirty seconds, our three-year-old was over it. The slide was small and didn't offer much opportunity for climbing.
Another problem here is there is absolutely no shade at all. We happened to be there on a relatively cool morning, but in the height of summer it will be intense heat.
Overall this is a pretty bland offering given the other options on the outer Cape.
This iteration of the playground opened in 2018 after a grant of $500,000.
