We had a lot of fun here, and then it started sleeting.
The sleet wasn't the playground's fault. It only lasted a minute or two, a kind of freak, early spring storm that swept through and shocked everyone.
The playground itself has some weirdo sculptural pieces but generally this adds to the environment without being hard to play on.
There's also a big traditional climbing structure with platforms and ladders and stairs that was a lot of fun until the sleet made everything wet. (Again, not the fault of the playground). I actually really like the color scheme of orange and brown, something you don't see often in the city.
There is a big atom-like climbing structure that reminds me of the oversized sculptural building, Atomium, in Brussels. I'm not sure how fun it is to climb, but we're not quite at the "let's climb everything" phase of childhood.
If there is one feature I appreciate, it's the little critters in the brass of the water feature, turtles and rats and insects. These are truly beautiful little sculptures. My best recommendation is to his this up on a nice day rather than a cooler, icey afternoon.
The playground has been around since 1929, and was redesigned in 1990, with a $1.8m renovation in 2010.
