This hidden playground is a simple concept but surprisingly fun for toddlers.
At first it seems there really isn't too much to do in this playground. There are a series of raised circles topped with rubber, which looks pretty basic. But it actually turned out to be quite entertaining for a three-year-old, especially when a new friend lent him some chalk.
The space is good for scrambling and running around, and for learning out to conquer different types of terrain.
The sandpit proved fun too with a few different levels for the sand to be poured out and moved around. There were a handful of plastic toys that seemed to belong to noone.
The splash pad surprisingly didn't have the magnetic allure that sometimes accompanies other playgrounds' water features.
I was surprised, our toddler didn't lose interest, and we never made it to the adjacent Adventure Playground.
Robert Moses wanted to make the space a parking lot for the Tavern on the Green before angry Upper West Side parents spoke out.
