A simple playground without much to do, but a good spot to roll a scooter.
There isn't much to do at this playground – there isn't even a slide. It's a school playground intended for recess and gym glass, so more space is open pavement. This is great for kids who want to run around and maybe toss a ball, but not so great for kids who need equipment to be entertained.
There's absolutely no shade, as we found on one of the hottest days of the year. There's also no place to sit, and no real amenities.
One thing this does have going for it is the proximity to the Brooklyn Public Library. The Greenpoint Branch is just one block down on Norman Avenue, and open seven days a week – assuming Eric Adams doesn't defund the library system anymore. Pairing the library and the playground is a great way to spend an afternoon.
The playground is connected to PS34 Oliver H. Perry. The school uses the space when school is in session, but it is otherwise open to the public.
