Playground Papa's Review

This small playground is ready for renovations, and luckily it soon will be.

The playground was popular, with numerous kids from toddlers to elementary age kids finding fun here.

The paint was wearing thin and parts of the slides looked like they were beginning to fall apart, but it wasn't unsafe.

This is one of those classic city parks from a few decades ago. It looks as though its been repainted a few times, and maybe even repaired. There was nothing standout about this park, although it was good for climbing up and down stairs and ladders– a good variety considering its small size.

There's a new bathroom and amenities building nearby, and the Edgar Allen Poe has was a weird little surprise, although I guess it make sense since its called Poe Park.

The rest of the park is also run down and there are numerous people of varying degrees of drug use passed out on benches, but they didn't bother anyone and were far from the playground area.

About the Playground

The park is built around the Edgar Allen Poe Cottage at the north end of the small park. The park opened in 1902, and the cottage moved to the current location from its originally location 450 feet away.

The playground is set for renovations in the coming years, with design set to be complete in May of 2026.
