An innovative looking playground, there were some unique climbing elements, built on a terrible place to have a playground.
The playground is small, and while there are ball courts next to it, this isn't going to serve a whole lot of kids. The climbing structures are mainly appealing to toddlers.
The equipment is obviously new, part of the new wave of playgrounds that mimics natural environments like rocks. The fake rock was fun to climb on, although a bit slippery. So were the balance beams designed to look like giant blades of grass.
Like so many newly created playgrounds, it's built on some of the worst available plots of land, in this case overlooking highway on ramps and links to the Cross Bronx Expressway. Surrounded by heavy traffic, this was an unpleasant place to be. Although it did have views of the Harlem River, Manhattan skyline, and the towers of the George Washington Bridge, it was an unpleasant place to be because of the road noise and exhaust (wildfire smoke aside).
There was a great view of the traffic below, but even our toddler was not amused.
When people talk about the Cross Bronx Expressway leaving a scar in the borough, this playground shows how its still continues to be a problem today.
The park was built in 2022, taking its name from the nearby Washington Bridge and Hamilton Bridge.
