A large shady playground with a lot of open space, the Bedford Playground flies under the radar.
This south Williamsburg playground is in the center of Hasidic Williamsburg. Just a few blocks from where Hipster Bedford Avenue meets the Williamsburg Bridge, it is located at the quiet end of the neighborhood with plenty of shade and a lot of open space.
The equipment is older, and shows its age, but is otherwise in good condition. There were a lot of bridges connecting different parts of the playground, and our toddler enjoyed riding his scooter under these a bit more than actually playing on the equipment.
The swings are hidden behind the bathrooms, adjacent to the tot-sized equipment.
This was quite a pleasant place to spend some time with good trees and relative quiet.
The playground opened in 1956, although was unnamed until 1987. It was last refurbished in 1999 for $1.25m.
