Playground Papa's Review

This hidden playground doesn't show up on Google, but it's one of the best on the Cape.

I only found this one because someone on Reddit mentioned it was a good playground – and they were right. It's a huge structure with a whole second area for smaller children.

The main climbing structure has a lot of climbing and platforms to walk around and so many different slides it can feel overwhelming. The castle tower is spacious and the suspension bridge has a lot of spring. I was told by our toddler to get down because he didn’t want to leave.

There is a climbing wall with a big sea themed mural featuring a pirate and octopus. I’m not sure it’s a particularly good climbing pattern but the mural looks fun.

Standing around here in the sun is hot, hot, hot. Desperate for shade I found myself hiding along the side of the structure looking for relief, and it wasn’t even that warm.

There are good nautical themes as would be expected on the Cape. Besides the pirate climbing wall, there are images of sharks and fish and a little boat to climb on. This is at a dock with a crab shack playhouse.

The courtyard of the main structure also has adult access on one side with a full height space to walk through. So much better than playgrounds that created internal space that’s not accessible to adults.

The slides can get hot in the sun, but that’s true anywhere.

The small kids area is set up like a steam train and house. Its a bit abstract but pretty obvious to a toddler.

There are also a solid number of monkey bars and hooks for climbing around, and balance beams.

The whole playground is hidden behind the elementary school, but there are fields for sports attached to it as well. On school days, it opens to the public at 2:30, but weekends and holidays it is available all day.
