Brooklyn Heights

Brooklyn Heights overlooks New York Harbor with the defining recreational space the Brooklyn Promenade. This platformed park built as the 3rd level of the BQE. Rehabbing the park and the highway is an ongoing public works problem facing the city. The promenade itself is a great recreational space because it's car free and there are plenty of boats that small children will find entertaining. Pierrepont Playground and the Harry Chapin Playground connect directly to the promenade. The waterfront, redeveloped during the Bloomberg years, now includes a sprawling, modern park with new recreational spaces including the Pier 6 playground at the southern side of the park. The waterfront can be access from the Heights by a bridge at Cranberry Street, or at the bottom of the hill at Atlantic Avenue.
